What is Movable Type?
Movable Type is a blogging platform and content management system (CMS) that allows users to easily create and manage websites, blogs, and online content. It is known for its flexibility, robust features, and scalability, making it a good choice for professional and enterprise-level users. Movable Type supports multiple users, customizable templates, and is optimized for search engine friendliness.
Softaculous helps you install web applications very easily. Please follow the steps below to install MovableType:
Step 1. Log in to your cPanel account.
Step 2. In the Software section, click on Softaculous Apps Installer.
Step 3. cPanel will redirect you to the Softaculous interface.
Step 4. On the left-hand side, locate the Blogs category. Click on it and then select Movable Type.
Step 5. Click on Install.
Step 6. Under the Software Setup section:
- Choose Installation URL: Select the domain and protocol you want to install Movable Type on. If you want to install it in a subfolder (e.g., example.com/blog), enter that folder name in the "In Directory" field. Leave this blank to install it on the root domain.
- Web Directory: Leave this field as it is.
Step 7. Under the Site Settings section:
- Site Name: Enter the name of your website, such as My First Website.
- Site Description: Enter a description for your site.
Step 8. Under the Admin Account section:
- Admin Username: Create a unique admin username (avoid using "admin" or "administrator" for security reasons).
- Admin Password: Use a strong password.
- First Name: Enter your first name.
- Last Name: Enter your last name.
- Admin Email: Enter your email address.
Note: Copy the admin username and password to Notepad. You will need them to access the admin area of your Movable Type blog later.
Step 9. Advanced Options: Leave this section unless you need to change the database name or set up automated backups. Note that frequent backups may consume considerable disk space.
Finally, scroll to the end of the page and click on Install to complete the setup.
